Roots

Roots Montessori was founded by Mr.Pruthvi
Banwasi and Ms.Krishika Kalro on 8th of May, 2004. The two
of them trained under Mrs. Meenakshi Sivaramakrishnan at the Indian
Montessori Training Course conducted under the auspices of the Indian
Montessori Centre, Bangalore.
Both of them had a similar dream. After his son
was born, Pruthvi dreamt of a school which would allow children a lot of
‘freedom’ and a place where ‘children are respected as individuals’. During the
training course, he met Krishika who had dreamt of starting a Day care centre
from the time she was working in a Play home in Chennai. After marriage, she
moved to Bangalore where she started working in a
Montessori House Of Children. Impressed by the method, she joined the training
course. And thus Roots was
born.
The school was named ‘Roots’
- considering the
strong foundation the child builds for himself with the help of the environment
he is in during his formative years. And considering the absorbent quality of
the child’s mind between 2 1/2 to 6years of age, we believe that if the ‘Roots’ are strong and well developed the ‘fruits’ that the tree would
bear will surely be sweet.
Roots began its journey from its 5th
Block Jayanagar premises. “Roots” has since grown from staff strength of
5 members to a committed staff of 30 members now. |
